Sir Norman’s Theatre Bar was so named for Island resident and national treasure, the late Norman Wisdom, and Islanders are equally fond of this popular hotel bar. With a respectful nod to the Island’s theatre community, Sir Norman’s is now a bonafide theatre bar, providing the perfect setting for pre- or post-show drinks, right next door to the iconic Gaiety Theatre. A dramatic yet sympathetic design scheme with a strong sense of charm and character.
Bespoke furnishings such as plush velvet red curtains, reupholstered old vintage theatre seating and adapted vintage traveller trunks set the atmosphere, while large-scale black and white photographic framed prints and a rich palette of historic colours provide the sense of drama befitting the high ceilings and classic Victorian architecture of this spectacular space. The lighting design was central to the enhancement of the bar’s ambience; the feature wall lights are re-purposed silver trumpets reminiscent of the theatre’s musical past. The decorative distressed over-sized wall tiles feature an acanthus leaf motif - again referencing the period history of the building.
Luxurious finishes prevail while consistently retaining the grandeur of the past.
