Founded in 2010, Rehab Squared has developed from a furniture ‘luxcycling’ business into an acclaimed commercial interior design studio and unique online store creating inspiring interiors and exciting products for a people who aren’t afraid to stand out from the crowd.
Our shop on Duke Street was truly special—think vintage general store rather than a generic high-street retailer. With a rich history and an abundance of character, it had been a department store since 1880, when Victorian entrepreneur George Lays sold clothing from the ground floor after manufacturing them in his drapery workshop upstairs. Inside, you would find black walls, grand high ceilings, huge glass chandeliers, and an original Victorian mahogany double-width staircase—it was a veritable treasure trove of wonderful and unusual items to explore and take home.
In 2021, we faced the difficult decision to close our shop at 9-11 Duke Street. The reasons were numerous: our lease was coming to an end after five years, retail faced significant challenges during and after the worldwide pandemic, importing furniture post-Brexit became complex, and the rising costs and overheads of running a high street store were unsustainable. In August 2021, we shifted our focus entirely to our online retail business at www.Rehab2.co.uk.
We remain dedicated to traveling the world in search of interesting and inspiring items for our online shop. Many fabulous pieces come from the USA and Europe, but we also source unique items from the UK and the island itself, discovering incredible finds over the years.
Since our inception in 2010, we have created our own range of Manx-themed products, most notably our popular Manx tin sign collection and the "IOM Gig (Revisited)" posters. We continue to expand our collection whenever creative inspiration strikes, which happens quite often! We feel very fortunate to do what we do. We design and create commercial interiors with flair, style and originality. We create cool, rock ‘n’ roll spaces for clients who aren't afraid to dare to be different. We have trusted relationships with an excellent team of contractors allowing us to create and install high-standard finishes that have integrity and cohesion. Our comprehensive design service includes detailed quotations, hand-rendered and digital sketches, CAD drawings and 3D visuals. In addition to our core business of creating stand-out commercial interiors, Rehab Squared create bespoke commission pieces for clients who are looking for original, one-of-a-kind furniture and wall decoration pieces, such as specialised neon lighting and traditional hand-painted signage. In our on-site workshop we also create exciting custom-made 100% original pieces that can be found in our online shop, in our ‘originals’ category.
