The Tea Junction //
A vintage tea room with a Belle Époque twist
Casual tea shops and luxury tearooms are gaining popularity. Situated on the increasingly buzzy Castle Street, The Tea Junction is an elegant tribute to old Paris with an Alice in Wonderland twist. The seemingly infinite and exciting tea selection is served in an interior that has been designed with impressive extravagance. Fresh tea leaves are housed in faux black and gold edged apothecary cabinets that look super moody and stylish against the painted noir walls. The dark decor is punctuated by bright pops colour, gold vintage lighting, gold tin ceiling tiles and burnished brass tables. A 12ft private dining table, hand-sprayed in electric blue with a high-gloss finish, sits beautifully next to a stunning set of velvet seated Gothic throne chairs. On a backlit wall feature consisting of old antique doors, a group of gold monkeys climb across holding vintage Edison lights. Additional vintage Parisian-style features include a low tea table decoupaged with pages of an old and worn French novel, completing the inspiring and exciting look. As a result, the ambience is relaxed, warm, fun and inviting. Glass jars displaying loose leaf tea make for a simple feature on the wall next to Victorian etched glass sign and vintage-inspired prints of contemporary celebrities in early 19th Century military uniforms inject an element of nostalgic fun.
